Smarter Region is a new initiative aimed at improving economic development in the Truckee Meadows. Starting in 2013, ten agencies – public and private – came together for the first time to examine how to break out of their silos and work collaboratively to attract industries, grow jobs, nurture entrepreneurs, and improve workforce development. Their work is based on the recommendations of the IBM Smarter Cities Challenge grant that the City of Reno received in 2012.
The scheduled Smarter Region Meeting on Oct. 15 has been canceled.
Leaders in the region will discuss IBM Recommendation #4: Brand the Vision, Not the Slogan. The goal is to build a common regional macro-brand for the outside world while maintaining individuality in micro-brands for each jurisdiction.
